How the Salvation Army Works to Cure Hunger

Jennifer Walling serves as the owner and president of Pacific West Vascular Solutions, a company based in San Francisco, California, that is involved in the sale of vascular devices and equipment to surgeons, radiologists, and cardiologists. During her free time, she enjoys skiing in Aspen. Jennifer Walling is also a supporter of charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army.

As the evangelical arm of the Universal Christian Church, the Salvation Army operates charitable programs in over 127 countries around the globe. Among its programs are initiatives to end hunger.

Even in a first-world country such as America, hunger persists. In fact, nearly 50 million Americans face the threat of hunger on a daily basis, and 15 million of these are children under the age of 18.

The Salvation Army addresses this problem by providing over 56 million meals each year through food pantries, meal programs, and community gardens. On average, over 156,000 nutritious meals are dispensed every day.

Young Professionals of San Francisco's Social and Service Events

A medical sales representative based in San Francisco, Jennifer Walling serves as western region sales manager for Ziehm Imaging. In this role, she is responsible for selling mobile imaging systems and other medical devices to surgeons, radiologists, cardiologists, and neurologists. In her free time, Jennifer Walling enjoys snowboarding and skiing in Aspen, Colorado, and participating in member activities with the Young Professionals of San Francisco (YPOSF).

Established in 2010, YPOSF comprises 1,500 professionals in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, working in a variety of fields such as tech, finance, marketing, and health care. Completely free to join, the organization invites Bay Area professionals to attend monthly happy hours as well as community service events to network, connect, and give back to the community.

Recently, YPOSF volunteers helped set up and lead a children's carnival on the rooftop of the Hamilton Families shelter, which serves Bay Area families who do not have permanent housing.
