San Francisco’s GLIDE Community Serves the Underserved

Jennifer Walling serves Ziehm Imaging, a provider of mobile imaging systems, as the western region sales manager, and runs her own medical supply company. When not working or skiing in Aspen, Jennifer Walling volunteers for GLIDE, a faith community in San Francisco.

GLIDE works toward reducing suffering and promoting justice for residents of the Tenderloin district. It operates several social services for marginalized persons.

GLIDE’s Walk-In Center provides access to the city’s homeless shelter system. It uniquely offers reservations for one day or a weekend, as well as 90-day reservations for wait listed persons.

In collaboration with other charities, GLIDE assists prospective or current renters with security deposits, back rent, and other expenses. Additional services include discounted DMV identification cards, hygiene kits, and referrals to other benefits.

Case managers support individuals on long-term goals to help them build on personal strengths and achieve more stable lives. Residents often work with GLIDE’s Family, Youth, and Childcare Center.
